Steve Hilton, a British political adviser and conservative commentator, claimed Monday on Fox News that not only did Robert Mueller exonerate President Donald Trump, the special counsel's Russia investigation provided evidence that former intelligence officials, Democrats and the media were "agents" of Vladimir Putin.
"Let's look at the big story what do we know now we didn't before? We know for sure the scope of the Russian effort, Putin's effort, to destabilize our democracy and to divide America. That's clear from the report," Hilton said during a panel discussion on the Mueller report.
"We also know that not only was there no collusion, there is a very important line in the attorney general's letter, the special counsel not only didn't find collusion it says 'despite multiple offers from Russian affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.' They tried to collude with the Trump campaign. The Trump campaign said no," added Hilton, who hosts "The Next Revolution" on Fox News.
"I'll tell you who did end up being an agent of Putin, an agent of Russia in his effort to divide America and to destabilize our democracy, it is all these people who have been pushing this story," Hilton continued. "They're the ones who have been dividing America -- Brennan, and Clapper, and Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell and MSNBC and CNN. They're the real agents of Putin!"
According to Attorney General Bill Barr, Mueller's 22-month investigation "did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election."
Barr said that Mueller's report "does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."
