James Mattis buried some of Trump's controversial proposals to kill them off: former Pentagon official
Donald Trump speaks to Jim Mattis (Pentagon)

According to a press release obtained by NBC News, the former speechwriter for retired Defense Secretary James Mattis has penned a tell-all book that will expose the dysfunctional relationship the former Marine general had with President Donald Trump before he resigned over policy differences.

The report notes that retired Navy Cmdr. Guy "Bus" Snodgrass -- who served as communications director for Mattis -- has submitted a draft of his book, "Holding the Line: Inside the Pentagon With General Mattis" to the Pentagon for review before it is published.

According to the publisher, Snodgrass took "meticulous" notes during his tenure and reveals that Mattis, "slow-rolled some of Trump's most controversial measures, with no intention of following through."

The Trump aide also acknowledged that Mattis was at a times blindsided by the president, learning about "major policy decision via Twitter, rather than from the White House."
