White House scrambles to clarify Trump's tweet after he declares he's withdrawing sanctions on North Korea

The White House is scrambling to clarify a tweet by President Donald Trump after said in a post that he's withdrawing sanctions from North Korea — that had just been announced by his administration the day prior.

"It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea," the president tweeted Friday. "I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!"

As CNN White House correspondent Abby Phillip noted, "Treasury announced sanctions on two Chinese companies for helping North Korea evade sanctions YESTERDAY."

ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers noted that press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said "President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary."
