The editor-in-chief of the conservative Bulwark website unloaded on Attorney General Bill Barr for trying to get ahead of special counsel Robert Mueller's report in defense of President Donald Trump.
"This administration has been a bonfire of reputations," Charlie Sykes told his MSNBC co-panelists Thursday, "but it's genuinely shocking that somebody of William Barr's stature is turning himself into a flack."
Sykes slammed the attorney general for holding a "bizarre and inept" press conference in which he attempted to defend the president by saying Trump "was sincerely angry."
"His spin didn't survive even the most cursory look at the investigation," the conservative editor said.
"If there was any doubt in your mind that [Barr] was not an honest broker here," Sykes concluded, "that notion did not survive this morning."
