Soledad O'Brien schools White House reporters for asking questions that let Trump get away with lies

Former CNN host Soledad O'Brien on Friday schooled White House reporters for asking questions in ways that let President Donald Trump get away with telling lies.

During a question-and-answer session with reporters on Friday, Trump was asked about a childish video he posted earlier in the week mocking former Vice President Joe Biden.

However, O'Brien noted that the reporter let Trump off easy by letting him ask multiple questions that gave him an easy out.

"Pro-tip: When you ask multiple questions in an interview, the subject will answer the one he wants to, and that is the least challenging—which removes any heft from your question," O'Brien wrote in response to the reporter's attempts to question the president.

In a separate tweet, O'Brien said reporters should stop asking Sen. Bernie Sanders when he was going to release his tax returns -- and should instead ask him what the hold up is since he's had months now to release them in anticipation of his presidential bid.

"The question shouldn’t be ‘when will you release your taxes’ but—‘why is releasing your taxes such an issue? It’s a straightforward process,'" she wrote.
