During an Oval Office photo spray, President Donald Trump talked about his love of Germany, saying that his father was German and was born there. Unfortunately for the president, his father wasn't actually born in Germany, which earned him merciless mockery.
It's unclear whether Trump knows where his father was born, had a "senior moment" or openly lied about it to impress NATO leaders. Regardless, it prompted the internet to erupt with their own arm-chair diagnoses about the president's brain-burps or dementia.
According to Washington Post reporter Aaron Blake, this is the third time Trump incorrectly stated that his father was born in Germany. It's unclear if anyone has thought to inform him about the error.
Trump's grandfather was born in Germany, however. According to The Guardian, the grandfather was also banished from the country.
At least one person compared it to Trump's insistence that former President Barack Obama was born in Kenya.
