President Donald Trump's latest legal defense is deepening his legal jeopardy, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirshner explained on Thursday.
"He actually announced he will not comply with any Congressional subpoenas," he noted. "This, of course, was the 3rd Article of Impeachment of Nixon."
" Trump did not say he would evaluate each subpoena issued by Congress to see whether any privilege or other reason to challenge the subpoena might exist. He said he will refuse to comply with every subpoena, whether lawfully issued or not," he explained.
"This is contempt of Congress. Period," he declared. "And is therefore in the heartland of impeachable offenses."
"Congress - with each 'impeachable moment' Trump is making your job easier. He has abdicated his responsibilities as president. The time is now!" he concluded.
