A massive fire has engulfed the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. The roof and central spire of the cathedral have collapsed.
Massive flames can be seen billowing out. The cause is not yet clear, but the structure was undergoing renovations.
"A terrible fire is underway at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris," said mayor Anne Hidalgo. "[The Paris fire service] is trying to control the flames... I invite each and every one to respect the perimeter of security."
President Emmanuel Macron added: "Our Lady of Paris in flames. Emotion of a whole nation. Thought for all Catholics and for all French. Like all our countrymen, I'm sad tonight to see this part of us burn."
