MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace on Friday explained the "terrible week of headlines" suffered by President Donald Trump.
"The president, trying to steady himself after high profile political embarrassments on issues like health care and the border," Wallace noted. "And his White Houe, working overtime to fend off legal threats from an emboldened and empowered Democratic-run house -- with no shortage of scandals and crises to investigate."
"After a full week of self-inflicted policy chaos, Trump is back at the border today making the case for a wall -- rejected by Democrats and Republicans a few weeks ago," she continued.
Wallace read a quote from a Politico article titled, "Barrage of setbacks spoils Trump’s post-Mueller reset."
"It was just last week that President Donald Trump and his allies euphorically celebrated what they called Trump’s exoneration after special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe," the article began. "But misfortune and mayhem almost immediately began piling up. Trump unleashed two new political crises — one on health care, one on the Mexican border — and then retreated on both of them."
Wallace also read from The Washington Post articles headlined, "Potentially damaging information in Mueller report ushers in new political fight" and "House Democrats seek 6 years of Trump’s personal and business tax returns."
She also cited The Atlantic article, "‘Dozens’ of Whistle-Blowers Are Secretly Cooperating With House Democrats."
"A terrible week of headlines and a crush of bad news for Donald Trump," Wallace concluded.
"This has not been the best few days for a guy who came out of a tough investigation," New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker added.
