'Bumbling stupid' Pompeo ripped by Morning Joe for his 'beneath contempt' defense of Trump's Russia dealings

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough shamed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for ignoring his own warnings about Russia to cover for President Donald Trump's relationship with Vladimir Putin.

Pompeo insisted Sunday that Trump had been tougher on Russia than any previous president, although Trump himself admitted he did not confront Putin over election interference during their phone call last week, and the "Morning Joe" host said the secretary of state had made a fool himself.

"He is beneath contempt," Scarborough said. "He should be ashamed of himself. He's doing a disservice to the United States of America. He saw what happened in Helsinki, he heard what happened on that telephone call. When he was in the CIA, he had to go testify, and testify that there was Russian interference and it posed a risk to the United States of America."

"That bumbling, stupid act that be he did on Fox News, insulting Chris Wallace and the viewers -- it's just disgraceful," he added. "Mike Pompeo is unworthy to hold any public office for the rest of his life."
