Fox News host Kennedy on Friday said that Donald Trump Jr. had to face the consequences if he mislead Congress during his previous testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee has issued a subpoena to Trump’s son to appear before the committee, prompting a wave of backlash from members of the GOP.
During a discussion of the subpoena, Fox News personalities expressed outrage that the Republican chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Richard Burr (R-NC), wanted Trump Jr. to testify again.
"Why doesn’t Richard Burr just come out as a Democrat? Let's call it what it is," said guest David Webb. "If you look at his history, this is someone who clearly falls more along the liberal line then the conservative line. Susan Collins, I don’t know. Maybe she is searching for relevance."
"But you have a report, maybe they should give him a copy of the 'Mueller report for dummies' to read because it was laid out -- remember what William Barr said? There was no collusion by Trump, any member of his campaign, or no American. That is a finite statement. It takes a while to read 400 pages, but apparently Senate Intelligence staffers are not reading it."
But Kennedy offered some pushback.
"Maybe he contradicted himself. Who knows?" she said. "If there’s nothing there and if he in fact — if the subpoena is actualized and he goes before the Senate Intelligence Committee and they don’t find anything, then you’ve got to stop the politicking."
"But if there really is a question there, and they found some sort of statement of his that doesn't jive with reality, then he has to answer for that," Kennedy added.
