After bloodying his face after falling off his riding lawnmower during a Monday night beer run, a North Carolina man was charged with DWI, the Morganton News Herald reported Wednesday.

Roger Dennis Denton, 61, was stopped by police while riding his lawnmower. Police reportedly asked why his face and hands were bloody and Denton told them of falling off his lawnmower.

"Officers asked Denton, on a scale of zero to 10, with zero being sober, how impaired he thought he was," the newspaper reported. "Denton said he was about a nine."

Denton was transported by EMS to the Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge-Morganton for treatment.

"Denton has a criminal record, with the most recent conviction being a DWI charge from 2014, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety," the News Herald noted. "Other convictions included assault on a female, possession with intent to sell controlled substance and driving while impaired, all dating back to the late 1980s and early 1990s."
