Rep. Eric Swalwell: Impeaching Bill Barr is the next step

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, on Thursday argued that the impeachment of Attorney General William Barr should begin in the coming days.

After Barr refused to show up for a House hearing Thursday morning, Swalwell spoke to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell.

"I’ve given a lot of thought about what we have seen in the last few months with Attorney General Barr," the California Democrat explained. "I’ve asked myself and my colleagues what do you do when someone pre-judges the investigation before it begins with the letter he sent?"

Swalwell continued: "What do you do when the Attorney General accuses the intelligence community of spying on the Trump administration? What do you do when the Attorney General mischaracterizes the report? What do you do when the Attorney general does not turn over the documents?"

"I think there’s only one thing left to do and that’s to commence impeachment proceedings against him," the congressman concluded.
