1 student dead after school shooting in Denver suburb: Local sheriff

Multiple injuries have been reported at a STEM school in Colorado, the Douglas County Sheriff announced on Tuesday.

The sheriff said it is "still an active and unstable scene."

CBS Denver is reporting there are at least four shooting victims.

Three medical helicopters have been on scene.

"South Metro Fire Rescue confirmed that they have numerous units on the scene to help and encourage drivers to leave streets open for emergency vehicles," KDVR-TV reported.

"The STEM School Highlands Ranch, a K-12 school, is on lockdown and all other schools in the area are on lockout. The school is located at 8773 S. Ridgeline Blvd. in Highlands Ranch," 9 News explained.

UPDATE: The sheriff released a statement saying that at least one student has died.
