On CNN Tuesday, Stephen Potter, a voter in Falls Church, Virginia, was asked about the state of discourse in America — and he warned that, in his opinion, the level of division in the country was only serving to benefit Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"It disturbs me greatly," said Potter. "I think it's going to be the ruination of this country. If we don't realize that we need to be civil to one another, and particularly, even if we don't agree with one another, civil discourse. I hate the rancor. It's tearing this country apart."

"I don't think it's good for this country, and I think it's something that, quite frankly, Putin loves," added Potter. "I'm sure he's sitting over there just happy as a lark seeing this country tear itself apart."
