Morning Joe thrashes Trump's 'lawfare' wails: He ran for president to avoid prosecution

Donald Trump complains that all of his criminal prosecutions and civil lawsuits are intended to prevent him from getting re-elected as president, but MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said he was only running again to avoid the consequences of those legal actions against him.

The quadruple-indicted ex-president has so far been found liable for sexual abuse, defamation and fraud and fined more than half a billion dollars, and last week he was convicted on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up other crimes, and the "Morning Joe" host reminded viewers that he's been saying since before the 2020 election that Trump would seek office to avoid accountability.

42 House Dems help GOP pass bill targeting ICC officials over Israel

Human rights defenders on Tuesday decried the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of a bill that would sanction International Criminal Court officials over the Hague tribunal's pursuit of arrest warrants for Israeli leaders—legislation critics warned would undermine the court's independence and could be weaponized to silence Americans' free speech.

House lawmakers voted 247-155 in favor of H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act. Forty-two pro-Israel Democrats joined all but two Republicans who voted "present" in approving the bill, which was sponsored by far-right Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas).

After a bruising hearing where Attorney General Merrick Garland faced a barrage of GOP-led accusations that the Justice Department had been supposedly weaponized against former President Donald Trump, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) shredded Republicans whom he said were doing Trump's dirty work.

"I watched this spectacle on [sic] the GOP side, that in the beginning there were a few people who stood up to [Trump] in some way, shape, or form," Schiff, a candidate for Senate, said during an appearance on MSNBC's "The Last Word" with Lawrence O'Donnell. "They are all going or gone and all we are left with is the stooges and sycophants. That is what you saw on the committee today: there is no level below which they will not sink to defend Donald Trump, which underscores again why we cannot allow that convicted felon in the Oval Office because there will be no restraint on him by any of his own party in that kind of a racketeering administration or in Congress."
