'We ran out of patience': MAGA women in Congress push back on Trump and GOP

A contingent of Republican women who are typically known as strident MAGA conservatives are also now increasingly leading the pushback within Congress against both President Donald Trump's administration and their own party's leaders.

That's according to a Thursday article in The Hill, which reported that Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) and Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) have emerged as consistent Trump critics on issues impacting women and girls.

Boebert, Greene and Mace were initially the only three other Republicans who signed Rep. Thomas Massie's (R-Ky.) bipartisan discharge petition compelling the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release all of its remaining evidence on deceased child predator Jeffrey Epstein. Before Trump's abrupt about-face on the legislation, the White House threatened to campaign against Mace in her bid to win South Carolina's 2026 Republican gubernatorial primary.

"I think we ran out of patience a long time ago," Mace told The Hill. "I hope that ... there will be more of us that will speak out. I’m very grateful for both Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert for being strong."

More recently, those women led a push to censure Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) in response to his former girlfriend accusing him of threatening to publish intimate photos after their breakup, which Mills denies. Rep. Luna accused House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) earlier this week of cutting a backroom deal with Democrats to scuttle their censure effort.

"I was wondering if the speaker of the House of Representatives can explain why leadership on both sides, both Democrat and Republican, are cutting back-end deals to cover up public corruption in the House of Representatives from both Republican and Democrat members of Congress," Luna said during a floor speech.

"This isn’t about partisan politics, it’s about protecting the integrity of this institution and the safety of women," said Mace, who introduced the censure resolution. "[Mills' accusation] is a real reality for countless women around the country. And I would not be doing my job in fighting for my constituents if I did not stand by her because I am her voice."

Greene also called out Johnson for perceived "hypocrisy" over his dismissal of the effort to censure Mills. The Georgia Republican also fired back at Trump after he called her a "traitor" and un-endorsed her on his Truth Social platform.

"Let me tell you what a traitor is. A traitor is an American that serves foreign countries and themselves, a patriot is an American that serves the United States of America, and Americans like the women standing behind me,” Greene said, in reference to Epstein survivors standing behind her at a press conference.

Luna is reportedly now planning to introduce a discharge petition that seeks to prevent members of Congress from trading stocks while in office.

I think there’s a lot of self-interested narcissists … running Washington that want to get rich while the American people suffer, and that’s why you’re seeing such strong opposition against this," she said. "So, I’m calling out the bulls——, and I really don’t care who I p—— off."
