Ex-prosecutor predicts Ken Chesebro will turn into a witness in the federal case
Former Republican and Lincoln Project broadcaster Tara Setmeyer, and ex-prosecutor Renato Mariotti discussed Sunday who they think will fall next in the 19 co-defendants in Georgia.
Setmeyer was torn between Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis being the next to sell out former President Donald Trump.
"If Donald Trump is not loyal to anyone and any of these people who are facing jail time or fines or losing their law licenses, why on God's green Earth would they continue to go down with the ship?" Setmeyer wondered. "And now someone like Rudy Giuliani is so desperate. He's broke, he is desperate, and Trump will not pay his legal fees for him or pay him the money he owes him. I heard that Giuliani is trying to sell his World Series rings to raise money to pay for his legal fees. He has hit rock bottom here."
As for Jenna Ellis, Setmeyer said the lawyer "thinks Jesus is going to come in and pay her legal fees. She's been praying for that, and she started a GoFundMe for that. These are people who are not in great positions to try to fight this battle. Why would they for Donald Trump at this point? He's done nothing but ruin all their lives."
Ellis also said in Dec. 2020 that Jesus would overturn the election.
Mariotti pointed to Kenneth Chesebro and the impact his cooperation will have on the federal investigation. He explained that the state and federal crimes are similar. While they might be at different levels, the crimes are similar.
"What Chesebro pled guilty to was a conspiracy to file the election document knowing that they were false, and that really cuts to the heart of the scheme," he said. "I would not be surprised if Kenneth Chesebro ultimately ends up as a witness in Jack Smith's case. I think the question is — is he part of the case or is he just a card that Smith uses in his back pocket that he uses in case Trump's tries to claim 'the advice of counsel?' The bottom line is that it's obviously a benefit for Jack Smith to be able to cut off a line of defense for Trump. Namely that he had the advice of counsel."
