Is America still the indispensable nation?

By Richard C. Longworth

Back in 1998, Madeleine Albright, then the secretary of state, called the United States the “indispensable nation.”

She meant that this country, armed with unmatchable force and influence, stood at the helm of a web of alliances and global organizations that guided world events.

The death of Alexei Navalny is being greeted by Putin-enabling fools

What total claptrap.

Dirty Old Man: On the whitewashing of Trump's behavior by people who should know better

The convicted rapist, and dirty old man, Donald Trump, arrived at yet another courthouse Thursday morning, in yet another rumpled blue suit, for yet another trial about cheating on America, and subsequently one of his wives.

Forget insurrection. Trump aiding the enemy is treason.

Aleksei Navalny, hero to the free world, has joined the tragic line of Vladimir Putin critics who met untimely poisonings, exploding planes and defenestrations from high-floor windows.

The Insurrection Act needs to be fixed before Trump can use it to create a police state

When Senator Tommy Tuberville (who just took Putin’s side on the Ukraine invasion) was meeting with the Trump family and team the night of January 5th in the DC Trump Hotel, plans had already been laid for the Proud Boys and other fascist street gangs to seize control of the Capitol to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s 7-million-vote victory.

The key would be invoking the Insurrection Act, a basket of laws dating from 1792 to 1874 that’s been used a bit over two dozen times, the first by George Washington and the most recent by President George HW Bush in response to the riots that erupted around the police beating of Rodney King.
