Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) sided with Democrats Tuesday to defeat a House rule advancing the annual farm bill after Republican leadership rejected her amendments.

Boebert filed non-controversial amendments to support rural Coloradans, which Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO) submitted to the Rules Committee for floor consideration. However, Republicans on the committee unanimously voted against considering her amendments.

Frustrated, Boebert announced her opposition to the rule, stating party leadership prevented her from representing her district's farmers and ranchers.

The unexpected alliance drew surprise from political observers, with analysts noting the unusual spectacle of a far-right Republican praising Democratic efforts while criticizing GOP leadership.

Punchbowl News' writer Jake Sherman posted the rule appeared "dead on the floor," while others, like Eric Michael García expressed disbelief at Boebert aligning with Democrats.

The incident highlighted growing fractures within the House Republican caucus over legislative priorities and committee procedures.
