House Oversight Committee Democrats filed contempt charges against former Attorney General Pam Bondi after she refused to comply with a subpoena for a deposition regarding the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein files.
Ranking Democrat Robert García (CA) explained Bondi, "illegally defied our committee, skipped her deposition, and refused to cooperate," even though she has extensive knowledge of the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein files.
"The survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse deserve answers, and the American people deserve the truth," García emphasized through his statement published Wednesday.
García assured Democrats are pursuing contempt charges, since committee Chairman Comer is allegedly delaying the investigation.
Instead, Republicans seek to reschedule Bondi's deposition rather than hold her in contempt, reported Nicholas Wu.
The Trump administration's Department of Justice argues Bondi is exempt from testifying, since she no longer serves as Attorney General.
