DETROIT — FBI agents infiltrated an alleged plot to kidnap and hurt Gov. Gretchen Whitmer by hiding recording devices in key fobs that captured conversations among undercover informants and accused plotters, according to a court filing late Monday. A defense lawyer for one of the accused ringleaders, Potterville resident Adam Fox, 38, argued conversations captured by the spy gadget will prove there was no conspiracy to kidnap Whitmer and that the government entrapped five men awaiting trial in a case that has focused attention on violent extremism in Michigan. Georgia GOP chair could face charges for signing ‘phony as a $3 bill’ slate of Trump electors: report
The chairman of the Georgia Republican Party could be facing criminal charges after signing his name to a fake slate of Trump supporters impersonating presidential electors.
"The Georgians who joined a false slate of GOP electors to aid Donald Trump’s campaign to overturn the 2020 presidential election could face criminal charges, legal experts say, as federal officials launch a new inquiry into efforts to undermine the vote and local prosecutors ramp up their investigation," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Thursday.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating the effort by Trump supporters to overturn the election.
"The alternative slate, which met behind closed doors in a second-floor state Capitol conference room while Democrats formally cast their ballots in the state Senate chambers, were not a fringe group," the newspaper reported. "Among the members are state Republican Party Chairman David Shafer and state Sen. Burt Jones, now a leading candidate for lieutenant governor. Several well-known activists and party officials also were involved."
Former Deputy Attorney General Harry Litman explained on Thursday it does not matter whether those involved actually falsely believed Trump won the election.
"Legal experts interviewed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cited various federal and state laws against false statements, forgery, racketeering and election fraud that the alternative electors might have violated," the newspaper reported. "Georgia State University law professor Clark Cunningham said the documents submitted by the Georgia Republicans are 'full of stunning falsity.' For example, the 16 Republicans signed a statement saying they were the 'duly elected and qualified' electors from Georgia. That wasn’t true."

Video goes viral after student is caught hurling racist insults at Black high school basketball player
A high school student in Laguna Hills, California, was caught on video making racist comments while in the stands at a basketball game Friday between Laguna Hills High School and a rival, KNX News.
The student appeared to target Portola High School player Makai Brown, who is Black, saying, “Where is his slave owner?” and “Chain him up!”
According to the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, the student who made the remarks received “immediate and appropriate consequences" but they provided no further details. A Laguna Hills assistant basketball coach was also disciplined but there were no details on that either.
Brown’s mother claimed in social media post that the team’s head coach, David Yates, and one of his assistants instigated the racist comments.
The OC Register reports that Portola principal John Pehrson said he did not witness racist remarks.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t see either interaction as I had just walked to another area of the gym to speak with their admin regarding some inappropriate crowd behavior of their student section,” Pehrson said. “When I returned to our player bench area the father (of the Portola player) was already being escorted out.”
KNX News reports that Brown's father was escorted from a game on Friday after getting into a verbal altercation with the unnamed assistant coach.

‘Calls for Pelosi to become president’: Nikki Haley mocked – this time for demanding Biden and Harris resign
Former Trump-era UN Ambassador Nikki Haley is being mocked after she called for both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to resign.
"If Joe Biden loved our country, he would step down and take Kamala Harris with him because the foreign and domestic policy situation is beyond dangerous at this point," Haley tweeted Thursday.
Haley, who is believed to be a 2024 GOP presidential candidate if Trump does not run, made the same remarks on Fox News one day earlier. Her Twitter page is filled with her own retweets of that story.
Many people, including Bloomberg News White House reporter Jennifer Epstein pointed out that the Speaker of the House is second in line to the presidency.

"This is why people don’t take you seriously," commented The Atlantic's Molly Jong-Fast.
"You're a ridiculously silly person," tweeted best-selling author Benjamin Dreyer, the copy chief at Random House.
Historian Kevin M. Kruse added:
As bad as Fulbright's idea was, at least it would've worked out as he intended.https://t.co/LSU6RTuJq4

But political science professor Jeffrey Lazarus got to the bottom of what's really happening here:
The idea that Democratic control of government is ipso facto illegitimate is becoming increasingly common in Republican circles. https://t.co/EsbTbrhB0P

Wow Nikki Haley wants to decapitate our government like Putin does. Again the GOP is not on the side of the USA. https://t.co/BCrJCKvrY2

This is just so monumentally stupid and hypocritical that I don’t even know where to start. https://t.co/C57u1NSUxf

You betrayed our country for Donald Trump and Putin. And you still do their bidding.

Might be time to admit that Haley was never a serious person. https://t.co/npLgF8UkKC

Please explain in detail what they have done that is worse than the last 4 years both domestically and abroad. Nikki Haley wants to put Pelosi in charge. The GOP doesn't even know why they are attacking anymore. It's like they have a random outrage generator they click every day https://t.co/QYyPKeB3Zr
