A federal judge reportedly issued a "brief administrative stay" halting President Donald Trump's freeze on federal grant funding.

In Tuesday's order, Trump attempted to pause federal grants and loans to conduct an ideological spending review.

As the order was set to take effect at 5 p.m., Politico's Kyle Cheney reported that a federal judge halted the spending freeze.

"A federal judge has ordered a halt to Donald Trump's sweeping aid freeze, issuing a 'brief administrative stay' to preserve the status quo for at least a few days while further litigation plays out," Cheney reported on X (formerly Twitter).

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified late in the day that the funding freeze would not impact aid provided to individuals. However, Medicaid portals were reportedly down in all 50 states for most of the day.
