Internet stunned by Don Trump Jr. rant about teachers' unions in front of a wall of guns

Commenters on Twitter were both baffled and stunned on Sunday over a clip of Donald Trump Jr. ranting about teachers' unions "failing students" by not forcing members to put their lives at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic while he stood before a wall displaying guns.

After first sarcastically repeating "follow the science follow the science," as part of an attack on President Joe Biden's attempt to clean up the COVID-19 mess left by his father, former President Donald Trump, the younger Trump attacked teachers and their unions.

What caused consternation, was his choice to launch the diatribe with guns -- whether toys or not -- in the background which called to mind a video of controversial Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) speaking with weapons haphazardly piled up behind her.

Trump Jr. was quickly called out for his curious background choice.

Montana's GOP governor signs 'constitutional carry' gun bill to allow concealed firearms without a permit

Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a major 'constitutional carry' bill Thursday that will let Montanans carry concealed firearms in public settings including banks and bars without a permit, in addition to limiting university system officials' ability to restrict firearm possession on college campuses.

The measure, House Bill 102, has been described by proponents as a way to enhance Montanans' Second Amendment rights and promote public safety by making it easier for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves from criminals. Opponents have argued that making it easier for Montanans to keep guns close at hand won't necessarily promote public safety.

On December 30, 19-year-old teenager Christian Hall experienced a mental health crisis, and his family called the Pennsylvania State Police to help him as he stood on a bridge considering suicide. Despite insurrection, there may be more guns in the Texas Capitol this session

There won't be fewer guns in the Texas Capitol this legislative session. But there might be more firearms tucked away in boots, holsters, bags and desks under the pink dome, already reputed to be one of the most armed state capitol buildings in the country.

The recent armed insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and threats of right-wing extremist violence have prompted calls in some states to curtail legal weaponry in statehouses, but in keeping with Texas' embrace of firearms, no new rules are expected.

Reacting to a report that Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) was stopped by Capitol police after he was spotted with a gun on his hip as he tried to access the House floor to cast a vote, Scarborough noted the number of GOP lawmakers who are balking at walking through metal detectors -- a common occurrence for anyone who wants to fly.
