MAGA figures erupted in outrage Monday after a federal judge dismissed criminal charges against two former FBI officials accused of lying to Congress about investigations involving Hunter Biden.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui threw out the case against Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, finding prosecutors had failed to establish probable cause. He described the prosecution in his ruling as critical of the Trump DOJ as political “weaponization.”
The decision on the eve of the critical mid-term elections unleashed a wave of fury from prominent supporters of President Donald Trump, who accused the judiciary of protecting Democrats.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) questioned how Republicans could “obtain justice in a judiciary populated by leftist judges.”
“So holding Democrats and leftists accountable for weaponizing the FBI and DOJ against Republicans and obstructing my investigation is now considered weaponizing the government?” Johnson wrote on X.
Well-known MAGA influencer Phillip Buchanan, who goes by the online handle “Catturd,” declared: “It’s all right.”
“These activist judges are a joke,” he wrote Monday in a social media post.
“These leftwing, political magistrates and judges are turning our country into a third world laughingstock,” conservative radio host Mark Levin raged online.
Hans Manke, founder of the Counter Lawfare Institute, called the ruling “comical” and “depressing” on X, arguing that the former FBI officials had been caught “dead to rights.”
But nationally syndicated radio host Jesse Kelly went a step further, suggesting the judiciary itself needed to be dismantled.
“You cannot save America without removing judges,” he wrote in an X post. “Bukele didn’t save El Salvador by building a prison. He saved it by removing the judges.”
