A prominent ethics philosopher has issued a stark warning about the global impact of President Trump’s administration, predicting that ongoing geopolitical instability, climate rollback and rising existential risks could push the symbolic Doomsday Clock even closer to midnight — the measure of humanity’s proximity to catastrophe — in a new Substack essay. The Doomsday Clock, set by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, currently stands at a historic 89 seconds to midnight, its closest approach ever, signaling unprecedented danger from nuclear threats, climate change and technological disruption that critics say Trump’s policies have exacerbated.
