Trump's DOJ probe of Dem lawmaker takes a startling new turn: report

Federal investigators have interviewed Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) sister as part of the Justice Department’s immigration fraud probe into the Minnesota Democrat.

A law enforcement source told CNN that investigators talked to Sahra Noor as part of a probe focused on suspected false statements on government paperwork and a possible conspiracy.

Investigators are examining whether Omar or her late father lied about her age when she became a citizen in 2000, claiming she was a minor when she wasn’t.

Applying as a minor can streamline the citizenship process, and Omar came to the U.S. as a Somali refugee at around age 12.

The interview comes after investigators searched Omar’s Washington, D.C., home on Oct. 12. The Trump administration had pushed for an unusually aggressive search before a federal magistrate judge limited how the Justice Department could access her documents.

CNN reached out to Omar’s lawyers and tried to contact Noor for comment.
