An Indiana county council candidate's bizarre local TV interview has gone viral after she tore into Republicans and signed off with a head-turning message.
Jaime West, a Democrat running for Fayette County Council's District 4 seat, sat for the interview Friday with Amy Graham-McCarty, managing editor of the Connersville News Examiner. The segment aired on LocalTV3, Mediaite reported Tuesday.
When Graham-McCarty asked what unpopular move she'd make for the good of the county, West groaned and asked to hear the question again before answering, "Firing all Republicans."
"I mean, I don't even talk to them. I don't like them," she said, blaming GOP voters for "this ICE coming into our community, stealing people's jobs."
West drew a line between "good Republicans" and those she called "MAGAs," whom she described as "racist." She said she'd been threatened by them "so many times," adding, "the sheriff's nephew threatened to blow my head off!"
Asked for her final words to voters, West paused before delivering them. "Hmmm. We have guns too!" She then threw up both hands.
The clip took off on X after various accounts shared it. Canadian lawyer and former political candidate David Freiheit, who runs the political commentary account "Viva Frei," wrote, "This is WILD. I legit thought it was a skit/high school video."
Viva Frei's Tuesday post sharing the interview had more than 1.6 million views, and the account shared the full interview as well.
"I adore this lady," gushed disinformation researcher and popular blogger Jim Stewartson. "You go girl."
"She's clearly drunk or high," suggested conservative journalist Steve Baker. "Both?"
"Arguably the most entertaining candidate interview I have seen all cycle," opined Juliegrace Brufke, a Capitol Hill reporter who runs the Sources Say newsletter. "A+ content."
"This is the greatest thing I've ever seen," declared progressive political strategist Mike Nellis.
"This is what happens when you're at happy hour and are reminded you agreed to do an interview about your race," joked Drop Site News reporter and "Breaking Points" podcast co-host Ryan Grim.
