President Donald Trump's freshly fired press secretary isn't letting a public dressing-down from her old boss shake her devotion to him.
Katie Zacharia remains "ruthlessly loyal" to the president even after he told a rally crowd she "freaked out" on the job, the Daily Mail reported Saturday. Zacharia signaled her agreement on X, sharing the Mail's story with a one-word endorsement. "Facts," she wrote.
Trump revisited her brief tenure at a Florida rally Friday, calling her a "poor young woman" and a "perfect, beautiful woman" who panicked when reporters started yelling at her in the briefing room.
Zacharia lasted only five days in the job before Trump pushed her out last week following a string of shaky appearances, making her the shortest-serving press secretary in White House history.
Rather than dispute the president's account, she heaped praise on him in a statement to Newsweek.
"It was an honor to work for President Trump, and no one has been more relentlessly attacked by the media than him," she said.
She also insisted "the best is yet to come" and described working "around the clock" during her week in the administration as Trump campaigned ahead of the midterms.
"No one has carried the water for the Republican Party and America First like he has for over a decade, all without losing the common touch," she added.
Her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, was far less charitable after Zacharia's exit, telling Fox News the role "obviously wasn't for her" and suggesting she hadn't done enough homework before stepping to the podium.
Zacharia's short stint was dogged by questions about her resume. She failed the California bar exam in 2011 and later worked at a law firm in Beijing, yet routinely appeared on cable news as a legal analyst who called herself a lawyer.
Her final days included a bruising interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, who pressed her on the lawyer claims and on a briefing where she fielded few questions. "Why only three questions in 14 minutes?" Hannity asked. The next day, she was out.
