Kimberly Giulfoyle ‘holed up’ in Athens with no one to trust after Trump ouster: report

Kimberly Giulfoyle is reportedly “holed up” at the official ambassador’s residence in Athens after being asked to resign by President Donald Trump, as new allegations emerge about her efforts to get wealthy businessmen to cover a luxury SUV debt.

“I have no one that I can trust over here,” Giulfoyle said during recent calls to contacts in the United States, a source told the Daily Mail.

The outlet reported exclusively on Tuesday that the now-ex Trump appointee is "practically holed up inside the official diplomatic residence in Athens, gripped by the mounting paranoia that amounted to her exit.”

The new details come as three sources said she had privately acknowledged “she’s done” before her ouster on Tuesday. One longtime embassy employee described the abrupt departure to the Daily Mail as “unprecedented.”

“Usually, these push-outs or terminations happen quietly. This was abrupt,” the staffer said, adding that Giulfoyle “had a cocky and brass air to her.”

The report also details allegations that Giulfoyle approached several wealthy Greek businessmen in mid-2025 seeking $250,000 to pay off her Mercedes G-Wagon. Four Greek and State Department insiders with direct knowledge described the requests, according to the outlet.

But sources said she did not receive the money. The claims follow reporting in The Wall Street Journal that Giulfoyle asked a Trump supporter to settle a $100,000 American Express bill while offering access to the administration.

Giulfoyle has denied any wrongdoing. Her team and the State Department did not respond to the Daily Mail’s requests for comment.

But one U.S. official offered a blunt assessment: “Nobody in the U.S. wants her back." The message comes as her reputation in Athens has also "rapidly collapsed," according to the Daily Mail report.

"Greek government officials were flatly refusing to hold meetings with her, the sources said, immediately before her ouster," the report said.
