Justice John Roberts went against his 40-year record to deliver win for voter rights: report

Chief Justice John Roberts reportedly surprised everyone and went against his own personal mission when he authored a ruling finding that Alabama likely violated the Voting Rights Act's prohibition on racial gerrymandering by packing most of the state's Black voters into a single congressional district.

The ruling, which was joined by all three liberal members of the court along with a partial agreement from the conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh, was a surprise to legal observers, who had expected the country's top court to weaken the Voting Rights Act protections and find Alabama's map satisfactory.

Lauren Boebert says the Pentagon has labeled her a 'security threat'

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, says the Pentagon considers her a "security threat."

In a tweet posted Saturday, Boebert said the Pentagon "apparently" now thinks that she's a security threat because she opposes "Biden's plans for a woke military." While there is no such thing as a "woke military" design, Biden has recently announced a plan to purge hate and white supremacy from the military and other governmental arms. Boebert personally took that news as a coded message about going after conservatives, but didn't elaborate upon the connection that she had made.

Lauren Boebert sued for defamation in federal court by activist

A North Carolina political activist filed a defamation lawsuit against U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Silt, Colorado in federal court Thursday.

Plaintiffs David Wheeler, who last year publicized information about Boebert in an effort to derail her reelection bid, and the super PAC American Muckrakers claim that Boebert defamed Wheeler by falsely accusing him of defaming her.

Boebert and “John Does,” to be named later, are identified as defendants.
