Lindsey Halligan, the controversial Trump appointee whose 2025 appointment as U.S. Attorney in Virginia was ruled unlawful by a court, attended an exclusive "MAGA elite" Independence Day party at Washington D.C.'s Executive Branch club on July 4.

There, she claimed President Donald Trump plans to appoint her as the "number three" at the Department of Justice, or DOJ, according to The Daily Mail.

“It is unclear what that means, since the associate attorney general role, under attorney general and deputy attorney general, is currently occupied by Stanley Woodward Jr,” The Daily Mail added.

Halligan left the DOJ in January following the court's ruling.

Since her departure, she has faced an investigation by Florida's bar association over judicial reprimands, with potential disbarment.

According to The New York Times, the Trump administration signaled it may seek to intervene in state bar disciplinary proceedings against her.

Halligan is a controversial figure accused of targeting Trump's perceived enemies.
