Panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" burst into laughter at Donald Trump's latest campaign riff.
The former president has been testing out some new patter for his rallies where he gives supporters permission to disdain their own children, and he even recorded a video telling farmers they weren't obligated to leave their land to their ungrateful offspring.
"I made farmers happy and rich again, and they're doing a fantastic job," Trump says in the dimly lit video. "You know what? Someday, it'll become time for them to leave this beautiful earth. They'll be able to leave their farm without taxes to their children. I got rid of the debt tax on farms so that when you do pass away, on the assumption that you love your children, you can leave it to them and they won't have to pay tax. But if you don't love your children so much, and there are some people that don't, and maybe deservedly so, it won't matter because, frankly, you don't have to leave them anything. Thank you very much. Have fun."
Co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were bewildered.

"Man, I'll tell you what," Scarborough said, slipping into a mockery of Trump's oddly sing-song cadence. "'If you don't love your children, some of them deservedly so, you don't have to leave them anything. Thank you very much. Have fun.'"
"'Have fun' is the kicker," said political analyst John Heilemann, as other panelists cracked up. "That wasn't on the teleprompter."
"Somebody is obviously concerned about kids not working for the campaign," Scarborough said.
"Someone's cut off," Brzezinski added.
"You have the notion of, but if you don't happen to love your children -- just that concept, as a presidential candidate -- but if you don't love your children, you can screw them," Heilemann chimed in. "By the way, you might not love them for good reason."
Scarborough marveled that Trump still enjoyed widespread support among so-called "family values" voters.
"Here's the thing, when we starts doing this, you know, evangelicals and everybody else goes, 'Oh, he is Jesus' only son, he is Jesus' representative on earth,'" Scarborough said. "You just sit and watch all this crazy stuff, all this hating stuff, you just say, come on. This is the best you've got? Have you ever seen anything like this? It isn't like, 'Oh, he's a disrupter.' It's like, he's out of his mind."

On Thursday, the panel on "Morning Joe" couldn't contain their disbelief at the path that Donald Trump seems to be taking as he makes a third run for the presidency, with co-host Joe Scarborough laughing and noting the former president wants to "terminate the Constitution" if he is re-elected.
After touching on Trump's bizarre comments that implied he is at odds with his own children, the MSNBC host expressed amazement that the former president is still the leading GOP contender for the top spot on the 2024 ticket.
"You want to turn things around? You've got to change the dynamic," he exclaimed. "What is the dynamic you have to change so the game changes? So your business changes? Change the dynamic. They're not doing it as long as you don't change the dynamic."
"If you lost in '17, '18, '19, '20, '21, '22, you're going to lose in '24, but they're not," he continued. "If it is Ron DeSantis versus Joe Biden -- we all have our problems with Ron DeSantis -- you've just changed the dynamic and the Biden team has a reason to be very worried."

"If it's Trump and Biden, go to France for a month; he's lost his mind," he laughed. "Now, he is fighting his own children. He said he wanted to terminate the constitution."

A US journalist working for the Wall Street Journal has been arrested in Russia on charges of spying for Washington, Russia's FSB security services said on Thursday.
The announcement marks a serious escalation in the Kremlin's efforts to silence perceived critics, a crackdown that gained momentum following Russia's military operation in Ukraine last year.
The FSB said they had "halted the illegal activities of US citizen Evan Gershkovich," saying the Wall Street Journal reporter was "suspected of spying in the interests of the American government".
The Wall Street Journal said it was "deeply concerned for the safety of Mr. Gershkovich" and the international media watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said it was "alarmed by what looks like retaliation".
RSF said Gershkovich "was investigating on the military company Wagner" -- a mercenary group playing a prominent role in Russia's campaign in Ukraine.
The FSB confirmed that Gershkovich, 31, was working with press accreditation issued by the Russian foreign ministry.
It said he had been detained for gathering information on Russia's "military-industrial complex".
"The foreigner was detained in Yekaterinburg while attempting to obtain classified information," the FSB said, referring to a city in central Russia 1,800 kilometers (1,100 miles) east of Moscow.
Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova alleged that Gershkovich had been "caught red handed".
Before joining The Wall Street Journal Gershkovich worked for AFP in Moscow.
A fluent Russian speaker, he was previously a reporter based in the Russian capital for The Moscow Times, an English-language news website.
His family immigrated to the United States from Russia when he was a child.
Media crackdown
"The problem is... the fact that the way the FSB interprets espionage today means that anyone who is simply interested in military affairs can be imprisoned for 20 years," Russian political analyst Tatiana Stanovaya said on social media in response to the detention.
Several US citizens are currently in detention in Russia and both Washington and Moscow have accused the other of carrying out politically-motivated arrests.
The FSB in January opened a criminal case against a US citizen it said was suspected of espionage but did not name the individual.
Paul Whelan, a former US Marine, was arrested in Russia in 2018 and handed a 16-year sentence on espionage charges. He is detained in a penal colony south of Moscow.
The US says he was a private citizen visiting Moscow on personal business and has demanded his release.
There have been several high-profile prisoner exchanges between Moscow and Washington over the past year.
In December, Moscow freed US basketball star Brittney Griner -- arrested for bringing cannabis oil into the country -- in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Russian authorities have also used espionage charges against Russian journalists.
Last year, Russia jailed a former defense reporter, Ivan Safronov, for 22 years on treason charges.
Safronov worked for business newspaper Kommersant and was one of Russia's most prominent journalists covering defense.
Gershkovich's arrest comes as Western journalists in Russia face increasing restrictions.
Staff of Western media outlets often report being tailed, particularly during trips outside of major urban hubs of Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Many Russians fear speaking to foreign media, due to strict censorship laws adopted in the wake of the Ukraine offensive.
