Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene savaged President Donald Trump on the eve of the midterms, comparing him to a lying salesman and taking a parting shot at his hair.
In a 281-word post on X late Monday, Greene, once one of Trump’s most loyal allies, tore into the president’s closing pitch, which he delivered at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool while touting his renovations to the site, reported The Daily Beast.
“So today for Trump’s closing midterm pitch he goes to the reflecting pool and brags all about working on the reflecting pool that 99.99999999999999 percent of Americans don’t care about and it has no effect on their lives like continued high inflation, high cost of living, high cost of gas/diesel does,” Greene wrote.
She also hammered Trump over the Iran war, accusing him of breaking his promise of “no more foreign wars.” Greene noted that Trump told a reporter he wouldn’t bomb Iran after the midterms, only for reports to surface hours later that U.S. forces had struck an Iranian missile defense system on Qeshm Island. The Wall Street Journal reported the limited strikes Monday night.
Then Greene got personal.
“It’s all like listening to a really bad home salesman lying and making up ridiculous claims about a piece of crap product he’s selling as he refuses to leave your living room and you really regret letting him in the front door,” she wrote. “Hair and all.”
The jab comes after the 80-year-old president lamented his own appearance at a San Antonio rally late last month, when a jumbotron caught his bald spot. “This is not good news. Now I’m depressed,” Trump told the crowd.
Greene doubled down on CNN later Monday, telling Kaitlan Collins she had “no idea” why Trump made the pitch.
“The mandate that we were all given in 2024 was to help America,” she said, citing lower prices and an end to foreign wars. “However the last two years haven’t been about that at all, Kaitlan.”
Greene split from Trump last year, accusing him of abandoning his campaign promises – particularly on the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Trump has since mocked her as “Marjorie Taylor Brown” and a “highly neurotic young woman,” claiming she turned on him because he “refused to return her phone calls.”
