Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) vowed to do anything he could to defend former president Donald Trump from conviction in his Senate impeachment trial.

The Florida Republican told the War Room Pandemic podcast that he would even quit his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives to serve on the former president's defense team.

"Absolutely," he told the podcast. "If the president called me and wanted me to go defend him on the floor of the Senate, that would be the top priority in my life. I would leave my House seat. I would do anything I had to do."

The 37-year-old Gaetz was re-elected to his third term in office in November.
