Sidney Powell: Trump trusted me because 'everybody else was telling him to pack up and go'

Former President Donald Trump's ex-legal adviser Sidney Powell had a simple explanation for Georgia prosecutors trying to figure out why the former president listened to her — even as she pushed bizarre conspiracy theories and claimed she could time travel and talk to the wind.

According to The Washington Post, she told attorneys working for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis that Trump ignored White House counsel and listened to her instead “because we were the only ones willing to support his effort to sustain the White House. I mean, everybody else was telling him to pack up and go.”

One of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) fellow Republican lawmakers does not think very much of her legislative acumen.

Sidney Powell testimony blows up another key Trump defense: Washington Post reporter

Longtime Donald Trump associate Sidney Powell, an attorney who pushed election conspiracy theories that were espoused by a woman who believes she can speak with the wind, has taken a plea agreement in the Georgia election racketeering case — and part of her agreement involved admitting that the former president called her several times to check in on how her legal efforts to try to overturn the 2020 presidential election were coming along.

That's a problem, noted Washington Post reporter Aaron Blake on X, because it contradicts a defense that the former president made on his Truth Social platform attempting to throw Powell under the bus.

Trump is 'near the end' so he's 'upping the shock value': Morning Joe

Supreme Court shredded by legal analyst for 'toothless' ethics reform

On Monday, following months of pressure and scandals surrounding the gifts given to Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, the Supreme Court announced it would be adopting a new code of ethics, in line with those that judges in lower courts are already required to follow.

But there's a big problem with this new system, said legal analyst Elie Mystal on MSNBC's "The ReidOut" Monday: It's still self-enforced by the justices, completely defeating the purpose.
