Harris campaign cancels planned rally in Nevada due to wildfires: report
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris, was to speak Monday at a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, ahead of a much anticipated first presidential debate Tuesday night with former President Donald Trump.
However, the rally was canceled because of the nearby Davis Fire, according to New York Times reporter Kellen Browning.
Walz instead visited a local campaign field office to distribute wildfire relief supplies and met with firefighters.
The canceled rally was to be the latest in a series of campaign stops as the Harris-Walz campaign blitzes the battleground states and one of the first major events to take place after the critical Labor Day threshold when campaigns tend to ramp up to full power.

Nevada is a consistent battleground for both parties. While Republicans have not carried the state in a presidential contest since 2004, it is perpetually close, with polls every cycle showing both parties leading at times.
Reno, situated in Washoe County, is the largest city in Nevada outside of the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area; the larger county historically had a Republican lean, but has trended toward the Democratic Party in recent years.
