President Donald Trump's latest attack on press freedom came wth a sharp rebuke — from one of his favorite law professors.

On Friday, Trump announced he would be banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House completely, with the possibility of more outlets to follow. All three outlets have done extensive reporting on the administration, including some stories that have embarrassed the president and his inner circle.

But George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley took to X to condemn the order, warning it will invite legal problems for the administration....

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received a surprising defense from a Trump-supporting attorney after "border czar" Tom Homan threatened to investigate her for allegedly impeding law enforcement.

Homan repeated Sunday that he asked the Department of Justice to look into Ocasio-Cortez's recent live webinar called "Know Your Rights With ICE," where migrants were advised on what to do if confronted by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

"I asked the Department of Justice, where is that line on impediment, right? It's a broad statute," Homan told CNN's Dana Bash. "Because you can call it 'Know Your Rights' all you want. We all know what the bottom line is. The bottom line is, how do they evade law enforcement?" ...

Jonathan Turley, a law professor and Fox News contributor who regularly champions all things Donald Trump wasn't so sure about the president-elect's call for businesses to trust "that there will be no liability" if they thwart the TikTok ban.

Shortly after TikTok pulled the plug on its U.S. operations because it hadn't found a buyer to replace its Chinese-run parent company, Trump asked U.S. providers to defy the ban.

Trump posted to TruthSocial Sunday, "I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark! I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law’s prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security. The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my order."...

Only vague signs point to the possibility of piercing Donald Trump’s orange armor and political impunity.

Trump dispatched Nikki Haley, his last serious challenger for the Republican presidential nomination, in early March. But Haley fared better than expected in May’s Indiana primary, where she was still on the ballot if not in the race, possibly indicating softness in Trump’s support.

If Trump is convicted on any of the 88 felony charges he faces in four court cases, it could cost him his freedom — and support. An ABC/Ipsos poll said one-fifth of Trump voters would either reconsider or withdraw their support if he’s convicted of a felony. ...

George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley, a frequent defender of Donald Trump who also advocated for the ex-president as a witness during his first impeachment, just received a lesson of his own after attacking President Joe Biden's great-great grandfather.

Turley, a Fox News legal pundit who predicted Trump would lose his claim that he can't be prosecuted for election crimes because of "presidential immunity," wrote a new article in which he outlines "a recent discovery of the criminal history of the great-great-grandfather" of Biden.

"It turns out that the evasion of accountability may be something of a family trait acquired through generations of natural selection," Turley wrote in promoting the column on social media....

On Christmas Day 2023, former President Donald Trump posted an angry rant on his Truth Social platform —attacking everyone from President Joe Biden to special counsel Jack Smith.

Trump, in all caps, said of his foes, "MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

The following day, law professor Jonathan Turley went to X, formerly Twitter, and said of the diatribe, "Trump's message of 'May They Rot in Hell...Merry Christmas' is to holiday greetings what Die Hard is to Christmas movies: a matter of considerable interpretation for those of us stuck in the Peace-on-Earth or even just Ho-Ho-Ho mindset."...
