Former President Donald Trump has won the first in the nation Republican primary in New Hampshire, defeating former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, reported the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal.

This was the second contest of the 2024 cycle, following Trump's win in the Iowa Republican caucuses earlier this month.

The New Hampshire contest was closely watched, as Haley, a onetime ally of the former president, is the only major opponent remaining to Trump gaining the Republican nomination for a third straight presidential cycle....

Donald Trump on Tuesday assailed New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu on his Truth Social website.

The former president called the vocal Trump critic a “selfish guy” who he claimed he was beating by almost 50 points in polls.

“I was beating 'Governor' Chris Sununu in his home State, New Hampshire, by so much, almost 50 Points, that he didn’t have the courage to run. He’s a selfish guy who should have run for the Senate, but now he’s stuck in never, never land, lonely and virtually unelectable!”...

New Hampshire, the traditional site of the nation's first primary, is a make-or-break state for presidential hopefuls. All the Republicans hoping to eventually stand as the party's nominee at the 2012 convention try to make a strong showing in the state, but for Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), New Hampshire could be a fall from grace.
