Obsessed Trump left his own DOJ scrambling with war on college: analysis

The Department of Justice and Attorney General Pam Bondi have struggled to replace attorneys after a mass exodus of recent resignations, retirements and buyouts, an analyst said on Thursday. And as President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on universities, it also backfired on the vital federal agency.

MS NOW's Hayes Brown wrote in an opinion piece that the DOJ has now opted to bring on new hires fresh out of law school, a reflection of how rough the hiring process has become and how the Trump administration has appeared to lower its standards.

Bloomberg Law cited a memo last week showing the requirements for new candidates: "typical one-year minimum experience requirement can be waived when posting job openings." ...

'Two down': Republican lawmakers gloat over Harvard president's resignation

Following the resignation of Harvard University president Claudine Gay, Republican lawmakers gloated over her downfall.

"TWO DOWN," House Republican Conference chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) posted to X. "@Harvard knows that this long overdue forced resignation of the antisemitic plagiarist president is just the beginning of what will be the greatest scandal of any college or university in history."

According to Politico, some other Republican lawmakers are following Stefanik's lead, with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) saying, “This is the right move. Our university leaders have gone full-on woke and harbor anti-Semitism on campuses. Many should step down.” And Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) called Gay "a disgrace to her profession."...

Alaska governor's 'pro-family' adviser resigns after pro-Hitler and pro-rape comments resurface

Alaska governor's 'pro-family' adviser resigns after pro-Hitler and pro-rape comments resurface

A key policy adviser for Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R-AK) has resigned after the release of a series of inflammatory statements he made on a podcast praising Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and defending the right of husbands to rape their wives, among a number of other things, reported Alaska Public Media this week.

Jeremy Cubas had been serving as Dunleavy's counsel on "pro-family" policies after previously serving as the governor's staff photographer, and, according to the report, his main job in his new role had been setting up a "pro-family" website for the state.

"Cubas aired those and other extreme views on the podcast he co-hosts, Contra Gentiles, whose Latin title translates to 'against the non-believers,'" reported Nathaniel Herz and Curtis Gilbert. "The program, which has been published for the past three years, was available for anyone to hear on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube when Dunleavy, in April, promoted Cubas to a $110,000-a-year job as his policy adviser on 'pro-family' issues."...

George Santos’ departing comms. director takes parting shot at embattled congressman on her way out

The communications director for Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) resigned Wednesday, and she took a parting shot at the embattled congressman on her way out the door, Scripps News reports.

Naysa Woomer’s departure is the latest setback for Santos after the Department of Justice last week issued a 13-count indictment against him that includes charges of fraud and money laundering.

The prominent Republican communications advisor previously worked for Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker and Reps. Ryan Costello, Thomas Massie, and Tim Huelskamp (all Republicans), among others....
