An 81-year-old Daly City, California, grandmother is suing the U.S. secretaries of State and Defense, claiming they are violating the U.S. Constitution by not evacuating Palestinian Americans from besieged Gaza. A relative of the woman, Dina Bseiso, a Bay Area resident, said her family is disappointed that the U.S. government “has left one of our own family members stranded” despite her U.S. citizenship. “When we are lucky enough to get her on the phone, she tells us how scared she is that by the time she is evacuated it’ll be too late for her.” The woman tried to cross into Egypt from Gaza in......

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday trashed Ron DeSantis for “getting absolutely destroyed” in his escalating feud with Disney. A day after DeSantis vowed to retaliate against the Mickey Mouse corporation for its supposed “woke” policies, Trump accused the Florida governor of overplaying his hand. “(DeSantis) is being absolutely destroyed by Disney,” Trump wrote on his social media site. “His original P.R. plan fizzled, so now he’s going back with a new one in order to save face.” Trump predicted that Disney would respond by scaling back job-boosting investment in the Sunshine State. “Wat......

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- It’s 1 p.m. on a recent Thursday in San Jose, and Steaphen Fick is intently watching two grown men swing unsharpened steel swords at each other. One of them is apparently not striking the other with enough force. Fick interrupts. “Don’t be afraid!” he says, like a character going into battle in “Lord of the Rings.” Fick jabs a finger at the other man’s headgear and neck guard — called a gorget, French for “throat” — and turns to his opponent. “That’s what that’s for!” The click-clacking of swords resumes. Fick is no stranger to these swords. He started practicing Historical......

SAN DIEGO — Most of them were based at Camp Pendleton, but they came from all over America, from small towns and suburbs. And that's where the sorrow and the pride linger, one year later. The 13 U.S. service members killed in the Kabul airport bombing are being remembered with memorials of various kinds — charity foundations, renamed streets, a mural — in places like Rancho Cucamonga, Berlin Heights, Ohio, and Lawrence, Mass. From sea to shining sea. The explosion on Aug. 26, 2021, was a disastrous punctuation mark on two weeks of chaos that unfolded as the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan after......
