Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) launched a scorching attack during acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing Tuesday.
After spending two weeks blocking Blanche's advancement with Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) over the $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund, according to NPR, Tillis declared he was satisfied with Blanche's written rescission.
Punchbowl News reported that Blanche issued two written orders on Sunday night. Even though legal experts warned Blanche's order contained loopholes, Tillis voted in favor of his nomination for attorney general on Tuesday morning.
However, he used the hearing to demand the firing of a federal prosecutor in North Carolina, specifically criticizing the Justice Department's April indictment of former FBI Director James Comey.
Comey was indicted for posting a beach photo with seashells arranged as "86 47," a protest phrase against Trump.
Tillis criticized the prosecution and hoped the federal lawyer has the information to support their claims, "because if all it is is a picture, that person should lose his or her job."
"Similarly, the people who went after Republicans in the Biden administration should probably be disbarred or disciplined," Tillis added.
