Plans for Donald Trump to hit the campaign trail weeks ahead of schedule have drawn mockery from Democratic strategists, who see the move as a sign of panic inside the White House as his poll numbers slide. After Politico reported Trump would begin campaigning weekly to shore up sagging support, former Trump aide Sarah Matthews said his presence may actually hurt GOP candidates heading into the 2026 midterms, since his policies — not his personality — will be on the ballot and they remain deeply unpopular. Swing Left strategist Yasmin Radjy went further, welcoming Trump to swing districts and laughing that his early roadshow is “great for Democrats,” reinforcing the view that Republicans know they’re in trouble.
