President Donald Trump took a victory lap Monday after the Supreme Court cleared the way for construction of his controversial White House ballroom to continue, calling the massive project a “gift” to the country.
“I am pleased to report that the United States Supreme Court has just ruled in favor of the Ballroom/Military Complex being built without any further contingency, doubt, or threat,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“We are living in the Golden Age of America, and this Building will be one of the Greatest ever constructed in Washington, D.C.,” he added.
The conservative Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Monday to indefinitely halt construction of the project, with Chief Justice John Roberts joining the high court’s three liberal justices in dissent.
“When completed in the Summer of 2028, the magnificent Ballroom and Military Complex will be something that the entire Country is very proud of,” Trump posted. He added that the lawsuit brought by the National Trust for Historic Preservation was “baseless.”
The ballroom, the president insisted, “is under budget and ahead of schedule and “is totally funded by Great Patriots and Corporations and, therefore, is a Gift — At no cost to the American Taxpayer.”
