Former Biden national security advisor Jake Sullivan slammed Donald Trump’s latest cabinet meeting as something out of a “Kim Jong-Un documentary,” warning on The Bulwark podcast that the spectacle of officials fawning over the president exposed his growing autocratic tendencies. Sullivan said the slavish loyalty on display showed Trump’s inner circle would never stand up to him, fueling concerns that his rapid dismantling of democratic guardrails resembles strongmen like Hungary’s Viktor Orbán or Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan — but at “breakneck speed.”
