President Donald Trump’s team is preparing to discredit Republican election losses, a White House source told Raw America, warning that administration staffers are concerned about what could follow the midterms.
In an exclusive report Monday, Raw America White House correspondent Brian Karem cited a White House source, speaking on condition of anonymity, who said Attorney General Todd Blanche would lead the legal efforts.
“We know there are plans to discredit every race that Republicans lose. Every one of them. And we know Todd Blanche will spearhead the legal efforts,” the source told Karem.
“The president is wounded, and if he loses he’ll be embarrassed. We all need to brace for what comes next.”
According to Raw America, the Justice Department is preparing potential lawsuits in six states to challenge election results.
The preparations come as Trump faces the possibility of Republicans losing control of both chambers of Congress, the report said. A planned lawsuit involving Alaska, which has not yet been filed, could be the first step in a broader effort to challenge election results, Karem reported Monday.
Multiple members of Trump’s staff fear the Alaska litigation could be “the opening salvo,” according to the account. Potential targets include Iowa, Maine, Michigan, South Carolina and Texas, with California also under consideration, Raw America reported.
Miles Taylor, who served as the Department of Homeland Security’s chief of staff during Trump’s first administration, predicted a broader legal strategy.
“I think he’s going to blitz US states where there are swing races, suing them over the election and seeking judicial assent to seize ballots in close contests,” Taylor told Raw America.
“And I think he’s going to get his a-- kicked in court.”
