A Republican voter dialed into C-SPAN weeks before the midterms with a blistering verdict on his party and where its leaders belong.

Progressive political analyst David Pakman played the clip during a Friday episode of "The David Pakman Show" and highlighted a caller identified as Ronald, who phoned the Republican line of C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" from West Virginia and said Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth belong behind bars.

"I think Pete needs to go to jail and it's obvious Trump needs to go to jail as well," Ronald said.

The program had put a simple question to callers, asking whether they thought their party would win the midterms. Ronald opened with a diagnosis.

"Well, as a Republican, I can say one thing. I think about 85 to 95 percent of the Republican Party has lost their mind," he said.

He said the party had been taken over by loudmouths who are "uneducated and unable to process any information beyond what they see on social media."

"I think most of them don't even understand what AI is or how it works. I think the Republicans deserve to lose every single election," he added.

Pakman said the critique stood out because it came from inside the party and went beyond a policy dispute. "He believes there is a fundamental informational problem within his party," Pakman said. "People are absorbing political information through social media. They are not equipped to discern what is real and what isn't."

Pakman cautioned against treating one call as a referendum. "Now, Ronald only represents Ronald," he said. "We don't know how many other Republicans agree with Ronald."

Still, he argued the GOP has bound itself so tightly to Trump that disillusioned voters have nowhere else to go within it. "Trump is no longer a faction of the Republican Party," Pakman said. "And so dissatisfaction with Trump means definitively dissatisfaction with the Republican Party itself."

He added that the timing made the call sting, with the midterms roughly three and a half weeks away. "There are a lot of things Republican leaders would want to hear from their voters right now," Pakman said. "I think our leaders should go to jail and we should lose every election is not one of those things."
