A focus group made up of Donald Trump voters had very little good to say about the man they helped put back in the Oval Office in 2024, with one man from Nevada urging him to immediately resign.
On Tuesday morning, as American voters headed to the polls, conservative pollster Frank Luntz shared clips of a focus group he conducted on Monday with Trump voters who have turned their backs on Republicans.
Primarily because of Trump.
“If Donald Trump were watching this right now, and I have on this screen 14 Trump voters, but none of you voted Republican for Senate or for governor. What would you say to Donald Trump right now if he were watching you?” Luntz asked.
“Easy, please, just do the right thing and resign,” Reed from Nevada jumped in. ”You don't care about us. You just care about money, so everything is all money.”
“But you voted for him,” Luntz reminded him.
“I did because I was duped, just like everyone else here. Just the majority of America was duped, right?” Reed shot back.
Joe from Texas added, “Yeah, I'd say stop bragging about how much money the oil companies are making while we're still paying high prices at the gas pump. You're out of touch and maybe you should be listening to working-class Americans again.”
“I would say I expected you to at least try to drain the swamp, not become like one of the biggest swamp monsters ever,” Joseph of South Carolina accused.
That led Dusty from California to add, “I would say you failed us. You lied to us and to do your perfect slogan that you claim and figure out how to make America great again.”
“I would say, President Trump, your lying has just been to the extreme, and you need to be made accountable for your actions because they're inexcusable, what you have done to this country,” remarked Debbie from Pennsylvania.
“Wow,” MS NOW co-host Mika Brzezinski remarked as the clip ended, and the conservative Luntz joined the panel and explained, “I wanted to understand the people who will probably give the Democrats the majority in the House. They’ll give Democrats the majority in the Senate. I wanted to hear from them.”
“And none of those people are Democrats,” he pointed out. “They're all Trump supporters, but they're all disappointed in him because they felt like he made promises to them that he didn't keep. The lesson I've learned is underpromise and overdeliver. Don't tell people it's great if it's in the middle of the depression. And most importantly, affordability is not a hoax.”
