Tributes poured in for former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), an outspoken advocate for gun control, who died Thursday at 81.

McCarthy's death was announced by officials from her home region of Long Island and confirmed by her representative.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), fresh off her tirade against the Senate parliamentarian, melted down Thursday afternoon over the House chaplain, whom she said needs to be replaced with a "good Christian."

Earlier in the day, Greene posted on X, calling for the parliamentarian to be fired. The parliamentarian is the official, nonpartisan advisor to the Senate tasked with interpreting and applying the chamber's rules, procedures, and legislative precedents.
