Trump's ICE enters the 'torture of children business' — and leaves legal expert aghast

President Donald Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement has hired a contractor who was allegedly involved in torturing inmates at Guantanamo Bay, and news of the hire left a legal expert aghast on Sunday.

The Guardian reported that ICE has hired MVM Inc, a U.S.-based contractor, to assist in tracking down immigrant children who are in the country. A document reviewed by the outlet reveals that the contractor's job is to "confirm the children’s location, school enrollment and overall wellness, including checking for signs of abuse or trafficking."

Todd Blanche stuns with 'cutesy' admission that Trump's 'exoneration' claims are false

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche appeared to inadvertently contradict President Donald Trump during a "cutesy" moment of his Sunday morning interview on NBC News.

During the segment, Blanche was asked about the Department of Justice's indictment of former FBI Director James Comey. He claimed that the previous attempt to indict Comey, led by former U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, was dismissed only because of a "technicality" and was not a statement by the court about the substance of the charges against Comey.

MAGA Louisiana Gov. just sent a chilling message with 'corrupt' order: expert

Louisiana's MAGA Gov. Jeff Landry, a close ally of President Donald Trump's, just sent a chilling message with his latest "corrupt" order, according to one expert.

Marc Elias, a voting rights attorney, discussed Landry's recent State of Emergency declaration, signed last week, on a new episode of "Democracy Watch" with progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen on Sunday. Landry's order canceled the upcoming congressional election in his state as Louisiana lawmakers work to pass a new election map. The order followed the Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. Callais, which found that states can politically gerrymander their maps, even if it effectively creates a racial gerrymander that was once prohibited under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

'It's worse than that': Expert shares sobering warning as Trump's 'defects' get worse

A foreign affairs expert shared a sobering warning about President Donald Trump during a new interview on MS NOW.

Tim Nichols, a staff writer at The Atlantic, told MS NOW's Nicolle Wallace on "Deadline: White House: Weekend" that Trump's personal "defect" appears to be getting worse, and there doesn't appear to be anyone around the president who can blunt the impact of that decline. That is happening at a time when the country is gearing up for one of the most consequential elections in recent history, and Trump has shown signs that he may be unwilling to accept the results if the election goes against him.

Todd Blanche baffles with defense of Trump's voter ID scheme: 'How is this real life?'

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stunned political analysts and observers on Sunday with a strange argument in defense of President Donald Trump's election scheme.

Blanche discussed some of the major election changes the Trump administration is pushing for, including adding nationwide voter ID laws, during an interview on "Meet the Press" on Sunday morning. Blanche argued that having voter ID laws is a common-sense solution to cases of alleged voter fraud, but his reasoning left many with their jaws on the floor.

Insider says Trump brought 'generational losses' to GOP by ignoring warning: 'We told him'

Republican strategist Rina Shah delivered a blunt indictment of the Trump administration's economic stewardship on MS NOW, revealing that GOP insiders warned the president precisely where his policies would fail—only to be ignored.

"I'm unsurprised. It's exactly in the direction that many of us have told him it would be in, which is really high numbers on disapproving, on cost of living and inflation. Those are the places in which he was elected to do better," Shah said, underscoring that the administration's current crisis is entirely predictable and avoidable.

Ex-AG says Republicans just 'said the quiet part out loud' with latest celebration

Former Attorney General Eric Holder delivered a scathing assessment of Republican election strategy, accusing the GOP of abandoning democratic principles in favor of engineering minority rule through voter suppression and gerrymandering.

Appearing on MS NOW, Holder responded to a gleeful quote from a Republican strategist in Louisiana who celebrated the state canceling their primaries just two days before the election. Holder the operative was revealing what the party has long concealed. "I think he's saying the quiet part out loud. That's exactly what it is that they are trying to do," Holder said.

Trump official squirms when pressed by reporter: 'I don’t know the definition of war'

Kevin Hassett, President Donald Trump’s top economic adviser, stammered Sunday when pressed on the U.S. war against Iran, telling CBS News’ Margaret Brennan that he didn’t fully comprehend the definition of the word “war.”

At the direction of Trump, the U.S. Navy is currently enforcing a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway off the coast of Iran through which a fifth of the world’s oil trade flows. Brennan, who featured Hassett as a guest Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” asked bluntly whether he considered the United States to be at war.

Jamie Raskin unleashes major prediction about Trump accountability: 'Work of a generation'

Rep. Jamie Raskin laid out an ambitious agenda for Democratic reforms if the party regains control of Congress, describing the Trump administration's dismantling of DOJ functions as so extensive that restoring the department will require years of sustained effort.

Appearing on MS NOW, the Maryland Democrat and constitutional expert outlined the scale of what he characterized as institutional destruction. "We need a sweeping de-Trumpification of the Department of Justice. There are huge parts of the DOJ that have just been dismantled," Raskin said.

Critics say Trump's acting AG just undercut own case against Comey: 'Play this in court'

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was pressed Sunday on the Justice Department’s (DOJ) indictment of former FBI Director James Comey – based largely on a photo of seashells – and his response left several critics stunned, many of whom argued he had undercut his own case.

Comey was indicted last week on two felony counts, including for threats against the president. The charges stem from a photo Comey published on Instagram that showed seashells arranged to read “86 47,” a term some conservatives have interpreted as a threat on President Donald Trump’s life.

Trump aide snaps after Jake Tapper reads aloud alleged assassin's manifesto: 'outrageous!'

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro snapped at CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday after the host read aloud an excerpt from the manifesto reportedly penned by the suspected gunman who disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) last month, an excerpt that appeared to label the president as a “p-------- r-----.”

Identified as 31-year-old California resident Cole Tomas Allen, the suspected gunman was captured on video rushing through a Secret Service checkpoint at the WHCD, where President Donald Trump was widely reported to be in attendance. Though the suspect didn’t mention Trump by name in his supposed manifesto, Pirro said it was “very clear” that the president was the "intended target.”
